BBNC - Syria Emergency Appeal - Banner

There are more than 496,000 Palestinian refugees living in Syria. The majority live in 9 official refugee camps and 3 unofficial camps. As the crisis in Syria continues to spread, Palestinian refugees face violence, displacement, and lack of basic resources such as food and healthcare.
Already a vulnerable minority in Syria, many Palestinian refugees and their families now face the unbearable choice of staying in their homes and risking their safety, or fleeing and facing further displacement.
It is estimated that 225,000 Palestinian refugees in Syria have been directly affected by the violence. So far, 4,000 Palestinian refugees have fled to Lebanon, while 1,199 have crossed the border into Jordan.
UNRWA has received over 50,000 requests for assistance by those affected by the violence, and is currently sheltering 7,741 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in UNRWA schools, with over 4,700 IDPs seeking refuge in Yarmouk Camp in Syria’s capital, Damascus.
During this time of crisis, UNRWA is fully mobilized and fully committed to providing emergency relief to Palestinian refugees in Syria. The Syria Emergency Appeal is a comprehensive initiative to provide emergency resources to Palestinian refugee communities affected by the violence. The appeal will provide food aid, water, medicine, and shelter, and will continue until the violence ends.
